The University of Western Ontario Faculty Association has formally requested Western\'s President to suspend shuttle service for students during the LTC strike.( } D1 O1 ~& n, k; n- p/ A
They\'re making the request in support of the London Transit Union which likened the shuttle service earlier this morning to \"union busting\".# C; e$ L) T8 k; j$ d1 |
The Faculty Association is one of the University\'s largest unions and represents more than 1500 professors and other staff.
6 P1 X6 e$ D9 ]% q5 IIt had earlier said its members would not cross picket lines if LTC union members decided to protest the shuttle service near campus -- a move which would have left classrooms and lecture halls virtually empty.
3 f5 s, H9 H8 g5 OThe union has since reversed its position and says, in the event of picket lines forming, it would advise its members to cross and report for work. |
